Jiu jitsu is a martial art of Indian origin that uses levers and pressures to overthrow, dominate and submit the opponent, usually without using traumatic moves. It were not very effective in the context in which it was developed because the samurai (bushi) wore armor.
The Jiu-Jitsu arrived in Brazil through Count Koma and was developed by the Gracie family.
Basically Jiu-Jitsu uses the strength on levers, which allows the fighter, even when smaller than the opponent, to win. On the floor, with the techniques like strangulation and pressure on joints, you can win by making the opponent give up the fight (competitively), or (real fight) he by making him/her pass out or break a joint.
